Working together is what builds lasting relationships.
Marriage counseling should be approached with a sense of hope. We believe that things can get better if both parties are willing to make a sincere effort to rebuild the marriage partnership. For that reason, it is important that both you and your spouse come to counseling sessions together from the very beginning.
The first session or two focus on sharing information about your marriage. Your counselor will be listening and working to assess and understand your history, discover issues, and identify common goals. Additional sessions then focus on resolving identified conflicts and building on your strengths. Our counselors are able to teach skills and techniques that you can take from the sessions and use immediately in your daily life. We can help you begin that process as soon as you are ready. We encourage you to contact us to begin the discussion.
Our counselors are experienced at helping partners open up and find common ground.
With a team of professional and compassionate Masters-Level trained counselors, you can be confident in the level of service and expertise you will receive. We can meet with you in one of our locations that is most convenient. Because we are part of Lutheran Family Service, we are active Christians, but it’s not necessary to be Lutheran or a Christian to use our services. All couples are welcome.
Professional experience tells us that a minimum of 6-8 sessions are needed to make progress in rebuilding a relationship. We charge a fee for our services, based on a sliding scale of an individual’s ability to pay. We also check to see if insurance may cover some costs. In any case, marriage counseling fees are substantially lower than the costly financial (and emotional) burdens of divorce.
